One of our very first clients was an ecommerce site which had been averaging around 1,500 visitors per month to their website. Most of this traffic came from the parent company site, with less than 400 coming from the search engines.

Straight away we identified the main keywords that the site should be ranking for and analysed their existing rankings. The site was not in the top 200 results for any of the main terms.

The first thing we did was to make a few small changes to the website. This did not really effect the appearance of the website at all, with the exception of adding a little bit of extra content on a few pages, however the changes made the site far more search engine friendly.

With the onsite optimisation sorted, we have begain building a variety of different backlinks to the websites and the rankings have increased dramatically. Within 2 months the site was on the front page for most of the keywords we had indetified. All of the keywords are now on the front page with most sitting in the top 3 and some at number 1. We are continueing to work with the site in order to get all of the terms to number 1!

The online marketing campaign for this site has now been running for 9 months, and in that time the traffic has increased from the original 1,500 per month to a massive 4,500 visitors per month. Thats a 200% increase in traffic overall.

The most impressive statistic is the amount of traffic that comes from the search engines though. This was previously less than 400 per month, however this is now almost 3,000 visitors per month. Thats over a 600% increase in traffic coming from the search engines.

The keywords the site is now ranking for have an average CPC of £1.90 through Google AdWords. This means for them to have "bought" the same quanitiy of this quality traffic would have cost them over £5,000 per month!
